At HBYS, we believe soccer is more than just a game — it’s a community. Our recreational soccer league was founded in 1979 to bring players of all ages and skill levels together in a fun, supportive, and competitive environment. As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, HBYS is committed to serving our community and reinvesting in programs that support youth deveopment through soccer. The history of High Bridge Youth Soccer is marked by the dedication of volunteers who have played a crucial role in the program's success. The league has grown from its inception to become a full board operation, with a strong emphasis on inclusivity and skill development. The program has also introduced new initiatives like TOPSoccer, which aims to provide a supportive environment for players with diverse abilities. The league's commitment to community spirit, competition, and the fundamentals of soccer continues to shape its future, ensuring that youth soccer remains a vital part of the High Bridge community. Whether you’re lacing up your cleats for the first time or a seasoned player looking to stay active, you’ll find a home with us.
We offer a total of six divisions to accommodate players of all ages and skill levels.
PreWee (3-4 year olds) - This division introduces preschoolers to the world of soccer. They will learn about kicking, passing, shooting and teamwork.
PeeWee (K-1st Grade) - This division dives deeper into skill work and introduces small sided scrimmages.
Junior (2nd-3rd Grade) - This division is when official games begin. Certified and uniformed officials referee the games. Players learn about offensive and defensive positions and their roles. They begin to develop game sense and team work to move the ball up the field. With larger goals and goalies, players begin to use "plays" to work together to put the ball in the net.
Intermediate (4th-5th Grade) - This division is played on a larger field than the Juniors with slightly larger goals. The level of play increases as well.
Senior (6th-8th Grade) - In this division, the field and goals are nearly the same size as they will be using at the high school level. This keeps ball time high for each player and makes strategy and teamwork the name of the game. Play is fast paced and skillful.
TOPSoccer (4 years old+) - This division for children ages four and up with disabilities.
Players are grouped by grade, but exceptions can be made for exceptionally skilled players to play up. Players cannot play down to ensure fair competition and skill development.
Our mission is simple: to promote a love of the game, encourage sportsmanship, and build lasting friendships through soccer. We provide an inclusive space where everyone — players, families, and fans — can come together to enjoy the beautiful game.
Whether you’re a player, coach, volunteer, or fan, we’d love for you to be part of the HBYS family. Sign up today, cheer for your favorite team, or just come enjoy the game with us!
